The CRT Strikes Back.
Happy New Year! What will 2005 hold for electronics this year? What amazing new advances will we see? Still looking for that new television set? Thinking about getting one of those LCD or Plasma screens? Think again. This is the year the CRT strikes back. For those who don't know what a CRT is, that would be the standard, old type of televisions and computer monitors we are all used to. You know, those big, bulky and heavy screens we all grew up with. Well this year they will strike back with avengence. How will they do that you ask? Because sometime this year, perhaps during the summer manufacturers will start releasing flat panel CRT screens. That means CRTs will be nearly as flat and as light as both LCD and Plasma screens. Now, unless you live under a rock and don't know any of the differences between CRTs, LCDs, and Plasma screens all you need to know is that the CRT (which by the way is technology as old or older then our Grandparents) is capable of greater picture quality than LCD and Plasma screens. They also last longer, have greater viewing angles and also todays CRTs don't suffer from the common problems seen with LCD and plasma screens. Such as, screen burn-in most common in plasma screens, and they handle fast motion much better. Now the only thing to be seen is what the prices for these screens will be. If not immediately, they should quickly become cheaper than LCD and plasma screens.
